Dublin offers its residents a wide assortment of recreational and cultural amenities. The city has 11 parks with 13 multi-purpose playing fields, golf courses, tennis courts, a swimming pool, two fitness trails, a host of recreational programs for residents, an outdoor amphitheater and a community center. The Jack Nicklaus Memorial Golf Course and the unique planned development called Muirfield Village are two special reasons for the interest in Dublin.
The Muirfield Village Golf Club is proud to host a major PGA tour event each year. The Memorial Tournament benefits several local charities annually, particularly the Columbus Children’s Hospital. Other beneficiaries are Fore Hope, the James Cancer Hospital, the Central Ohio Junior Golf Association and more.
Another major Dublin event is the Irish Festival. In recent years, the festival has experienced a 700% increase in attendance. Thousands of visitors flock to this event each year to eat traditional Irish food, observe music and dance performances and purchase traditional wares and art. In addition, the event offers a Gaelic mass and a 5K race.
Dublin's Historic District, surrounding Bridge and High streets, is a unique part of the city that links Dublin's past to the present day. The district’s distinctive character, combined with its central location in the city, has led residents to regard it as the town’s focal point as well as a community gathering spot.
As is typical with older districts, Historic Dublin combines a mix of residential, business and retail uses. Of historic and natural significance, Historic Dublin features buildings listed on the National Register of Historical Places, parkland along the Scioto River, Indian Run Falls, the Dublin Cemetery on Bridge Street and the smaller Indian Run Cemetery.
In recent years, the city has made several improvements. It has installed brick sidewalks, traditional-style street lamps and trees. A street banner program was implemented, providing an opportunity for groups to promote local events. Stone walls fronting three of the corners of Bridge and High streets were erected. The city also purchased and improved the northwest corner of this intersection, adding more parking spaces and landscaping to further enhance the area.
